KRWA's
Barbecue Party 2002
"Smokey Joe's Cafe"
7:00 p.m., Tuesday, 3/26, Convention Hall, Century II. This event is
complimentary to all those who pre-register, please specify ticket on
registration form.
Has KRWA got an evening planned for you! There's no party like it -- and this
year's opening nite barbecue, in addition to good food and social, brings to
Convention Hall stage an hour and half version of the professionally produced
rock `n roll review production, Smokey Joe's Cafe.
The cast includes three New York professionals, a six piece orchestra, a
complete set -- all designed to be interactive with a large audience (that's
you) who will be eating and enjoying a social unlike no other.
Smokey Joe's Cafe, produced by Stage One, is all about the music of Jerry Leiber
and Mike Stoller. These are the guys who created enduring classics in a variety
of genres -- most notably Rock & Roll. If Elvis Presley was the king of Rock &
Roll, then Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller were certainly the two most important
powers behind that throne. They wrote Hound Dog, Loving You and Jailhouse Rock.
They wrote all of The Coasters' songs including Searchin', Young Blood, Yakety
Yak, Charlie Brown and Poison Ivy.
At KRWA's Barbecue Party 2002, you'll hear all those favorites as well as Kansas
City, Don Juan, D. W. Washburn, Shoppin' for Clothes, Fools Fall in Love, On
Broadway, Some Cats Know, Spanish Harlem, I (Who Have Nothing), Stand By Me,
There Goes My Baby, I'm A Woman, Stay A While, Smokey Joe's Cafe, and many
others.
It's one heck of a party and show. Best of all, it's FREE -- for those who
pre-register by March 15. Make sure you specify a ticket on the registration
form. Those without tickets pay $20 to attend.
