THE KANSAS LIFELINE
July 2018
appreciates the opportunity to serve our
customers at the conference.
The Topeka Field Office wants to
specifically thank KRWA staff for all
you do! Our contacts with Elmer and
Greg are answered pretty much
immediately. Thanks to all the KRWA
meter guys (Tony Kimmi and Lonnie
Boller, et al.) who went out and
provided tests for exceptions where
previously existing set-ups are
measuring water diverted accurately
although they may not meet the strict
letter of the law in the particular
installation. In these cases, the existing
meter installation will be allowed until
plumbing changes occur or pipe
changes are made. KDA has now
achieved state-wide metering and the
TFO in particular has completed the
issuing and follow-up on all Basins
within our territory.
Now, KDA is moving towards more
customer service initiatives and
educational opportunities for our water
right holders including public water
suppliers. We continue to appreciate
the efforts of Doug Helmke and Ken
Kopp in providing water use reviews
and perfection discussions with
suppliers about their water rights.
We thank you for the continued
support and assistance we always get
from you. We appreciate it.

My name is Danny Hawkins and I
represent the city of Burlington.
I would like to take a moment and
express our sincere thoughts of Charlie
Schwindamann.
Charlie has been by far a HUGE
help to the city of Burlington.
Countless times we have called upon
Charlie for assistance and Charlie has
been more than helpful. His
professionalism and easy to understand
analogies have not gone unnoticed. His
passion for his job and wanting to help
others is a MAJOR asset for KRWA
and we are proud to be members of an
association that has staff members like
Charlie.
I just thought you might like to
know how much we appreciate
Charlie.
Thank you,
Danny Hawkins

Just a quick note to let you know
that this year's show was truly a great
show. We had great traffic to our booth
and things really went smooth.
Congratulations on a great job on setup
and running the show. I think it was the
best one yet!

Just wanted to thank you all for a
wonderful conference this year. It was
my first and I needed to attend
desperately last year as an OIT with
the city of Carbondale. I don’t really
know how hard it is to put on an event
such as you did. GREAT JOB and
WELL DONE!

would like to say “Thank You” to
Kansas Rural Water Association for
the 2018 Operator of The Year
award presented to me at the
conference. Without the assistance and
guidance given to me through the years
by KRWA this award would not have
been possible.
Thanks for all you do for all the
water operators, administrative staff
and water and wastewater systems in
Kansas.

Great Show! I hope you are able
to enjoy a few days off. Thanks to
KRWA staff for allowing KPERS 457
to present a concurrent session at the
KRWA conference. I hope those who
attended benefited. We have quickly
learned that the KRWA conference is a
great outlet for us. We’ll be back next
year.

It was good seeing you all at the
KRWA annual conference in Wichita in
March! It is always fun catching up
with old friends and putting faces
together with names for all our public
water supply systems across the state.
